Johana was not just known for making yarn. He was also the largest, probably the only buyer of Butter Beans (Noe) in OlKalou. That is how he got his name, Johana wa Noe. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the narrow space outside his house, there were tarps (Kiandaruwa) full of Noe. Farmers knew Johana was the buyer of Noe, so, everybody brought their surplus harvest to him. He made sure the Noe were cleaned properly, you could always find him picking out undesirable elements from his stock. He also made sure they were completely dried because moisture from half dried cereal usually causes molding and rotting, damaging an entire stock. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

If Johana was not on his wheel making yarn, he was on the tarp cleaning and spreading the Noe to dry. He was a very busy man. Johana held on to the Noe he purchased cheaply from farmers during harvest, and started selling his precious stock when there was shortage in the market, making the prices more profitable for him.
