I have no history of where Mukurino came from <\/span><\/span>or<\/span><\/span> when, but what I know is that, he was a very valuable member of OlKalou, providing what was needed by the young land owners, our Pioneer Parents, to develop their newly acquired land. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Think for a moment about all the services Mukurino rendered to OlKalou and beyond. If a farmer needed a tractor to plow and harrow their farm, Mukurino had it. If one needed a planter for their wheat, Mukurino had it. Needed a combine harvester to harvest their wheat, Mukurino had it. Needed a truck or a tractor trailer to haul <\/span><\/span>their<\/span><\/span> wheat to the Cereal Board warehouses in OlKalou, Mukurino had them. <\/span><\/span>A Cooperative Society n<\/span><\/span>eeded <\/span><\/span>reliable <\/span><\/span>truck<\/span><\/span>s<\/span><\/span> to deliver <\/span><\/span>their members<\/span><\/span> milk to KCC Nyahururu on a daily basis, <\/span><\/span>throughout the year<\/span><\/span>, Mukurino had <\/span><\/span>a fleet<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>Families n<\/span><\/span>eed<\/span><\/span>ed<\/span><\/span> their<\/span><\/span> maize and wheat milled, Mukurino had the Posho Mill for that. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

I <\/span><\/span>know Mukurino was a businessman doing what businessmen do. <\/span><\/span>M<\/span><\/span>ake money. <\/span><\/span>B<\/span><\/span>ut I chose to look at <\/span><\/span>him<\/span><\/span> from my parents point of view. I look at all the services he provided, and I wonder what could have happened to our Pioneer Parents if Mukurino had not invested his wealth in areas that were helpful to the<\/span><\/span>m. He invested in everything the<\/span><\/span> young farmers <\/span><\/span>needed to develop their land. He could have chosen to invest in real estate, constructing the first high-rise buildings in OlKalou<\/span><\/span> town <\/span><\/span>or the nearby Nyahururu <\/span><\/span>town<\/span><\/span>, but he didn’t. <\/span><\/span>Instead, h<\/span><\/span>e invested in all the areas that impacted his community on a daily basis. That is what I consider true wealth. <\/span><\/span>A wealth that is beneficial to a large<\/span><\/span>r<\/span><\/span> community that needs it<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span>I really admire <\/span><\/span>Mukurino <\/span><\/span>for<\/span><\/span> his business acumen. <\/span><\/span>He covered all the bases, making him the GO TO guy in OlKalou. His home was the one stop shop for anything the farmers needed. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When the history of OlKalou is written, it will be incomplete without <\/span><\/span>acknowledging the role <\/span><\/span>Mukurino <\/span><\/span>played, <\/span><\/span>being the ever present<\/span><\/span> support <\/span><\/span>system<\/span><\/span> the <\/span><\/span> young farmers <\/span><\/span>needed<\/span><\/span>, as they tilled their virgin land <\/span><\/span>and grew roots in a <\/span><\/span>strange<\/span><\/span> land<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The development of OlKalou and neighboring areas has <\/span><\/span>Mukurinos\u2019<\/span><\/span> fingerprints all over <\/span><\/span>them<\/span><\/span>, and for that we <\/span><\/span>are<\/span><\/span> forever grateful.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
