Lets Exchange Recipes

The Group also gave the women an opportunity to exchange recipes. The women tried outdoing each other when it was their turn to host. They wanted to cook the best meal for their “friends” better than they ate at any other members home. The food was fantastic.

It was from the group that my mother learnt to make French Toast. When she first made them for us, we were amazed that bread and eggs can be combined together to make such a delicious treat.

When Royco hit the market, the women shared ideas on how it can enhance their cooking. They encouraged each other to quit using curry powder (mbithari) which they had used for years, and replace it with Royco instead. I am glad they did.

These are the same women who shared amongst themselves that Stinging Nettles (Thabai) can be used for mashing mukimo when Kahurura was in short supply.
