Event Planning

There are people who are so well organized, their daily lives run like clockwork. Be it cooking a meal, they organize their ingredients ahead of time and when they start cooking everything goes smoothly. Everything they do, however simple a chore, is always well planned from start to finish. They leave no detail out, however small, even what other people normally ignore. They are good at canvassing; taking charge and getting everybody involved, be it a school meeting, a family get together or simply serving food to visitors.

Such people can make a business out of their organizational skills. With events like weddings, dowry negotiations or graduations, you can organize for the family from beginning to end. The family tells you what the event is, how many people they are expecting and what their budget is. You get to work sourcing whatever is required and contracting whoever is needed for various functions. Get a caterer who fits the food budget and plan the meals together. Hire or borrow tents and chairs if they are needed. Hire the Master of Ceremony. Hire or borrow a Public Address system. Hire entertainers. If its a wedding, work with the bride to make sure the dresses are ready on time, the church and reception hall are booked, the flowers are ordered and transportation is booked as well.

After you do a few of these events, you will have your ‘go to’ team that you work with every time. The flower people, transport, MC, entertainment and more. It is not you doing the work, you are only coordinating on behalf of the family, on their budget. All you are offering are your organizational skills, making sure their events run smoothly and successfully and they pay you for doing it.
